Here’s a look at what’s buzzing in the books world today:
–’Orphanmaster’ inspiration: Linda Lombroso of The (Westchester, N.Y.) Journal News interviews debut novelist Jean Zimmerman about The Orphanmaster, the historical thriller/chiller she wrote at her “Twilight Zone”-esque New York cabin.
–Stephen Covey: USA WEEKEND has published the last written work by Seven Habits of Highly Effective People author Stephen Covey, who died on July 16. The story, “Succeed like an Olympian,” was co-written with his son Sean Covey, who remembers his father in a letter to the magazine.
–Stop the GR bullies: The Huffington Post‘s piece today, written by editors of the website stopthegrbullies.com, declares action against “bullying” reviews on Goodreads. “Our campaign is to out these bullies one by one, using online public information, screencaps, and other related, non-copyrighted pictures,” reads the website. The HuffPo story has prompted much social debate today about the validity of the website’s claims and its use of exposing reviewers’ personal information.
