ESTERO, FL — Two Florida teens have been arrested for creating a fake Facebook account to cyber bully another student. The teens allegedly opened the page, posing as a classmate, last April and posted offensive pictures and comments. “The sole purpose of this page was to terrorize and embarrass a victim,” said Lt. Ryan Bell of the Lee County, FL Sheriff’s Office. The graphic statements on the page suggested the girl was willing to perform various sex acts with men in the area.
According to reports, it was a student at their high school who told authorities about the inappropriate page. It was shut down within a week. Detectives say they then created a second fake page attacking the girl yet again. It was also shut down.
The arrest report states that one of the suspects told deputies she made the fake pages as a joke, because “nobody liked her.”
“It’s a crime. This isn’t just kids making fun of each other, poking fun at each other,” Bell said.
